On the brim of the magnificent Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve, in the heart of the citrus farming community of Patensie, lies our little hotel.  Built in 1946, the hotel carries an old school charm and character with raised ceilings and wooden floors throughout. Relax on the stoep and take in the scenery of the tractor traffic humming by whilst enjoying the best steak in town or a sundowner drink.

Our goal is to ensure your visit exceeds all expectations, be it for one night or a very special occasion.

Our hotel offers an excellent choice of flexible conference and function facilities which can be tailored to meet your needs.  Within the Gamtoos Valley and between the mountains, this venue will create the ideal atmosphere from the very beginning.

Fully catered the venue can seat up to 80 people for conferences, sales presentations, AGM’s, birthday parties or any function you may be having.
.

On the premises is a cosy 40 seater Restaurant with additional seating on the stoep and in the bar or braai area under the massive palm tree. The menu offers an array of home-cooked, hearty and affordable meals ranging from AAA grade matured beef, pizzas and salads to burgers, toasted sandwiches, fish and chicken dishes, with an occasional treat of fresh fish caught and cooked by John himself. A selected winelist plus great atmosphere makes the restaurant the focal point of the hotel.

A Pub of laughter, good times and great memories. This fully stocked bar serviced by fantastic staff is a great place to relax, unwind and meet some locals.  With live sport shown on the two plasmas and a big screen, a dart board  and pool table and plenty of room to enjoy a steak off the restaurant menu, the cosy atmosphere offers great entertainment well into the night. The bar is situated far enough from the rooms if you would prefer a quiet evening in.

In the nearby town of Hankey you can enjoy a game of golf on the renowned 9-hole, wind-free, golf course; visit the grave of Sarah Bartman or see the largest sun-dial in Africa, amongst other attractions.

A drive through the Baviaanskloof Mega Reserve offers 120km of great scenic drives with magnificent views and a couple of country shops and restaurants to visit along the way.  There are fantastic mountain biking routes, hiking routes and 4X4 courses all over this proclaimed World Herritage Site. You may be lucky enough to see baboons, monkeys, kudu or even leopard.

Kouga Dam, built in 1967, is an awesome attraction to visit; you can go and see the dam from the top and there’s a lovely picnic area at the foot of the wall.

The nearby town of Loerie hosts the Naartjie Festival annually in September. It is a great outing with loads of food stalls, fresh veggies from the farmers, live entertainment and other great attractions for the whole family to enjoy.

Port Elizabeth has an array of attractions ranging from a trip to SeaWorld, to the nearby Addo Elephant Park, a casino, boat trips to Bird Island, scuba diving and a trip on the Apple Express narrow gauge steam train takes you right back to Loerie.

The nearby towns of Jeffreys Bay and St. Francis offer great day trips where you can bathe on the beaches, surf, fish, play golf, shop or have a great meal.
